Using Social Media to Convert Followers to Customers

Having lots of followers on social media is great. It validates your business, shows others that you have something valuable to offer is a great way to update clients and customers in the fastest possible way. But how do you convert your followers into paying customers?

Firstly, establish which of the social media platforms are the most popular with your target demographic. For example, if you clients are mainly 50+ spending all your time promoting your products on snapchat is pointless. However, you do want to have a presence on as many platforms that are relevant. Once you have your presence set up, establish the most effective way to promote on each one.

For example, videos are a great way to share on Instagram. With the recent launch of IGTV and the ability to share quick informative “Stories” the opportunities are endless.

Facebook is fantastic for more detailed posts that require a little more text, however, don’t bore your followers, keep all posts concise and include a call to action and any links early in your post. Emphasise this call to action again at the end of the post too. Always include an image when posting on Facebook.

Images are also a great way to attract attention and followers on twitter, keep your engagement relative, timely and be ready to engage, engage, engage if you are using this platform. Don’t have an account on this format unless you can tend to it multiple times daily.

Stay active on a regular basis. Make sure you’re always responding to your followers, keeping them engaged and feeling valued. Don’t let them post and keep them hanging! Be sure to like their posts, respond in any way you can and build the sense of community.

Use automation tools to help save time when it comes to managing your content. You cant rebuild your life around social media. Take advantage of the tools available to keep you engaged in social media, but not excluded from the real world!

Drive business and get people to your store or website,  by offering exclusive discounts and promotions, and run contests. Make your followers feel valued on your social media by giving them something they can’t get anywhere else. Consider partnering with social media influencers to increase your brand awareness and build validity and trust.

Focus on increasing your click-through rates. Use images, watch your language, and by that we mean pick high traffic generating words. Use hashtags, research the ones that may be industry specific to you and will boost your following.
